"First People," "Native," "Aboriginal," are often our society's names for people whose culture and religion have long been oriented on the rhythms and cycles of our planet. As Unitarian Universalists we recognize and honor the people, their culture and their history as individual and unique. We also find clarity in their spiritual teachings - particularly those that remind us of our part in the circle of all things.
This "last" source comes with a poignant reminder for all the others. When Unitarian Universalists explore wisdom, spiritual practices and teachings from other sources, we lear about ourselves and how to live, but we always recognize the people who are the source of the source and acknowledge their gift. What gifts have you received from Earth-centered religions? |
Summer of Sources: Sixth Source
During the sixth week of the Summer of Sources leading into Sunday, August 7, we are using A Chosen Faith Part VI: “For the Beauty of the Earth” & “Returning to the Springs” (pp. 185-212). On August 7 with silence and through journaling you will be given an opportunity to share your thoughts about this source.
